The Navigating H.O.M.Eā„¢ Program:

Navigating Homelessness Obstacles with Mindfulness Exercise

Homelessness is a growing epidemic in this country, with an alarming number of Americans finding themselves living without adequate housing...

living in motels, vehicles, shelters or on the streets.

STATS:

  • Six in ten Americans are one paycheck away from losing their housing (Invisible People, 2021).
  • 582,462 people were experiencing homelessness on a single night in January 2022, according to the Annual Homeless Assessment Report released by the U.S. Dept of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) in December 2022.

Many unhoused community members struggle with serious illnesses and health setbacks exacerbated by all of the many stressors associated with homelessness.

Homelessness affects both physical and mental health and makes accessing health care difficult. As a result, people experiencing homelessness often face higher rates of poor health outcomes than people with housing.

Mental illness, severe trauma/PTSD, substance abuse disorders, malnutrition, infection, violence, disease and other factors are commonly seen among this population.

This is all the more reason why health-promoting practices are so crucial in helping unhoused citizens to learn simple, effective mindfulness tools clinically proven to boost immune system function, decrease anxiety, improve focus and mood, support total body function and endurance, lower stress levels and neural (brain) dysregulation commonly exhibited by those experiencing high levels of stress and trauma.

YOGA-2-GO brings a unique and therapeutic blend of Qigong, yoga, mindfulness practices, breathwork, acupressure and more to help unhoused individuals feel supported, empowered and encouraged.
Our therapist-designed programs use a combination of techniques to help lower stress levels in the brain and body, resulting in improved mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual well-being.

Contact YOGA-2-GO today to find out how we can bring the H.O.M.E program to your local homeless shelter or non-profit organization.
